Who we are

DriverBase is operated by Kennedy Ncube, trading as JetPortal. This policy explains how we handle data when you use DriverBase at driverbase.co.uk.

What data we collect

  • Location data— If you use the “Near me” feature, your browser asks for permission before sharing your coordinates. We use them only to show nearby results and never store them on our servers.
  • Postcode lookups— Postcodes you enter are sent to the postcodes.io API to convert them into coordinates. This request goes directly from your browser to postcodes.io; we do not log it.
  • Corrections and additions— If you submit a report via the form on a place page, the text you write and the type of report are stored in our database. No personal identifiers (name, email, IP address) are stored alongside the report.
  • Saved places— Favourite places are stored locally on your device using IndexedDB. This data never leaves your browser.
  • Analytics— If you accept analytics cookies, we use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate usage patterns. These tools collect anonymised page-view data. No analytics data is loaded until you give consent.

Legal basis for processing

  • Consent— Analytics cookies are loaded only after you accept them via the cookie banner.
  • Consent— Geolocation is requested through your browser’s built-in permission prompt.
  • Legitimate interest— Processing report submissions to maintain accurate place data.

Third-party services

  • Supabase(database hosting) — Stores place records and user-submitted reports. EU-hosted.
  • Vercel(hosting, analytics) — Hosts the website and provides anonymised analytics.
  • postcodes.io(postcode lookup) — Converts UK postcodes to coordinates. Requests are made from your browser.
  • Google Maps APIs(images) — Street View and Static Map images are fetched server-side on your behalf. No user data is sent to Google.

Cookies and local storage

  • Analytics consent— A localStorage key records whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies.
  • Saved places— IndexedDB stores your favourite places for offline access.
  • Service worker cache— Assets and pages may be cached for offline use and performance. You can clear this cached data at any time using the button below or by clearing your browser data.

Data retention

User-submitted reports are kept indefinitely to maintain data quality. Locally stored data (saved places, cache) can be cleared at any time using the button below or by clearing your browser data.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data. Since we do not store personal identifiers with reports, report data cannot be linked back to you. You can clear all locally stored data at any time:
